The works/goods, as described, is part of the Agriculture and Land Reform programme for the Wineland district, Pinehaven farm, Situated in Stellenbosch, approximately 8 km away from Stellenbosch Town. The quoted amount will be a lump sum bid and must include conversion, supply and delivery of containers as described below. The successful bidder must have the capacity to deliver the goods within 1 (one) calendar month from date of appointment.


The scope of works will include the supply and delivery of two x 6 meter and one x 12 meter converted shipping containers that complies with the minimum specifications as described below and set out in detail in the tender document.



1. Where openings for doors and windows are to be made, the following must be adhered to;

2. Form openings into walls into positions as shown for the doors and windows and on completion cover the cut sections with 3mm thick U-channel sections or angle iron to cover the openings. The inner measurements of the U-channel to be of similar sizes as for the outer sizes of the container walls. The frameworks to be mitred at corners and to be built in position before the windows and doors can be fitted.

3. The sections that were previously cut out for door openings can be re-used for the construction of the single doors. A square tubing or angle iron framework needs to be welded onto the door. Fit the door with a 4-lever mortice lock and furniture.

4. All openings between the framework and wall surfaces of the container to be filled with expansion foam and when hard, neatly cut and sanded to a smooth and even surface.

5. All the containers will be sanded down to a smooth and even surface. All badly rusted areas shall be cut out and re-surface with at least three layers of fibre glass material. On completion, sand to a smooth and even surface. Paint all the containers externally and internally with one coat approved primer, one undercoat and two coats of semi-gloss oil based paint.


Allow for the following types of shipping containers:

A: Shipping container to be converted to a storage container - 6m long - Wind & Watertight (WWT) container including electrical work.

B: Shipping container to be converted to a storage container - 12m long - Wind & Watertight (WWT) container including electrical work.

C: Shipping container converted to cold storage room - 6m long - Wind & Watertight (WWT) container including electrical work.




D: Purchase of a Silimar Reefer container (or equal and approved) accoring to the following specifications:

1. Maximum heat leakage: 22.7 K Cals/HR/Deg C

2. Machinery: Marine Refrigerated- carrier fitted with full controls including hours run meter, automatic defrost, 30 days continuous recording flow chart

3. Power supply: 380.440v 50/60 hz 3 phase

4. Refrigerant: R12/R134a/409

5. Power consumption: 7.5kw

6. Temperature range: 0deg C to plus 15 deg C

In accordance with Casidra’s Preferential Procurement Policy, this bid as further indicated in CBD 5.1 is subject to:

- a functionality compliance test;

- B-BBEE certified bids will receive preferential scores;


BID DEADLINE: The closing date for the bid is 24 April 2018 strictly at 12H00.


Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope with the name of the bidder clearly marked “BID NO: 1/2018 (Re-invite of tender 84/2017) SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF 3 STEEL CONTAINERS AT PINEHAVEN PROJECT IN STELLENBOSCH” and placed in the bid box available at Reception of Casidra’s Head Office, 22 Louws Avenue, Southern Paarl. No faxed, counter-to-counter courier or posted bids will be accepted. 

All bids above R30 000 will be subjected to the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act and regulations, whereby B-BBEE certified service providers will receive a preferential score.
