The service of a professional environmental educaitn service provider are required to assist the Western Cape Department of Agriculture to create environmental awareness and capacity building for Grade 6 learners at various schools in the four different local municipalities within the Overberg District.

It is expected that the successful service provider should have and maintain a very good and close working relationship with the Western Cape Education Department and Local headmasters by adhering to criteria as set out in the bid document.

The successful bidder must have the capacity to start within seven days after appointment and complete the work before the end of February 2018.

Scope of works: Environmental Education of Grade 6 learners on the following themes according to the CAPS Curriculum:

1. Soil care - soil life, erosion, horticulture and composing.

2. Water care - water cycle and water life.

3. Veld care - indigenous and alien plants and trees of the Western Cape.

Our impact on the natural environment and what we can do to reduce our carbon footprint. The link between plants and climate and how this help with combatting hunger, cold, sickness and thirst. Introduce the Junior LandCare Calender competition and the Jenior Care project to the participating schools. Details of competition and the Jenior Care project to the participating schools. Details of competition and project will be communicated with successful service provider. A minimum of 3 schools per local municipality must be targeted and each of the schools must be visited a minimum of 3 times during the contract period.

Pricing: An all-inclusive price should be given for the service required as stipulated in the scope of work. Pricing should include, but is not limited to, own transport, equipment tools, lesson, assessment material, practical activities, VAT and whatever other costs is required to meet the deliverables. Price should be set out as a cost/visit/school, regardless the location of the school.

Important: the numbers of schools are subject to change depending on the total cost of quotations received. Final amount of schools will be communicated with the successful service provider. The successful service provider must take full responsibility for the safety of learners whilst doing practical exercises. All lessons & assessment material developed during this project must be shared with the Western Cape Department of Agriculture. The service provider must indicate the number of visits per school. The Department of Agriculture: LandCare may or may not ask the service providers to present the lessons before allocating the contact. It is recommended that the interested service provider should make use of, but is not limited to, the following environmental education lesson material that was compiled by the Environmental Education Project of the University of Stellenbosch: "We care - Learning support material for environmental education for the intermediate phase". In accordance with Casidra's Preferential Procurement Policy, this bid as further indicated in CBD 5.1, is subject to:

1. a pre-compliance criteria (see scope of works)

2. a functionality compliance test

3. B-BBEE certified bids will receive preferential scores.
