The works, as described, are situated in the Ebenhaeser district, 45km west of Vredendal. GPS coordinates -31.589223° S & 18.237555° E. The successful bidder must have the capacity to start the works within 7 (seven) days of appointment and complete the work within 6 calendar months. The Works refer to the Sub Surface Drainage System for Nuwepos, Ebenhaeser.

The quoted amount will be a lumpsum bid. Tenderers are required to allow in their tender price for the supply of all necessary materials, equipment, supply and use of tools, the provision, operation and maintenance of all the Contractor’s plant and equipment, the supply and supervision of all labour and workmanship and materials needed and every service necessary for the construction and completion to specification and commissioning of the Works in the manner required by the contract and to the entire satisfaction of the Engineer.

Existing access roads shall be used as far as possible. The site is situated within a wetland with a tidal influence of the sea on the groundwater levels and the river. Soil conditions are varying from dry to saturated and caving in of trenches and submerged working conditions can be expected. The site is subjected to an Environmental Record of Decision. The work involve the use of heavy equipment in close proximity of a human settlement and public that has access to the site.


The Contractor must put all necessary precautions in place to work under these conditions.


The scope of works will include:

The proposed infrastructure consists of a 1995m sub-surface agricultural drainage system comprising of a 1280m primary drain of 160mm diameter slotted drain pipe and two 200mm diameter class 4 uPVC outlet pipes with a combined length of 715m connected to the primary drain pipe and discharging drainage water to the Olifants River through two small concrete and gabion combination outlet structures.

In accordance with Casidra’s Preferential Procurement Policy, this bid as further indicated in CBD 5.1 is subject to:

- a pre-compliance criteria of compulsory attendance at indicated site visit;

- a functionality compliance test;

- B-BBEE certified bids will receive preferential scores.


A compulsory site meeting will be held on 21 September 2017 at 12h00 at the municipal offices in Ebenhaezer 45km from Vredendal.  Notice of attendance must be forwarded to the contact person as copies of the design plans for the works will be handed out at the meeting.


BID DEADLINE:  The closing date for the bid is Friday 3 October 2017 strictly at 12H00.

Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope with the name of the bidder clearly marked "EBENHAESER: CONSTRUCTION OF A SUB SURFACE DRAINAGE SYSTEM FOR NUWEPOS – BID NO. 35/2017” and placed in the bid box available at Reception of Casidra’s Head Office, 22 Louws Avenue, Southern Paarl.  No faxed, counter-to-counter courier or posted bids will be accepted.

All bids above R30 000 will be subjected to the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act and regulations, whereby B-BBEE certified service providers will receive a preferential score.
