Today, the Casidra team engaged with young people at the Langeberg Youth Expo in Robertson, sharing information on skills development, career pathways, and opportunities for growth in agriculture and economic development.
Delivering the welcome remarks, Deputy Mayor of Langeberg Municipality, Hon. Cllr Alderman Christopher Grootboom, urged youth to take the expo seriously.
“This Youth Expo is all about you and your future. Make sure you get enough information today to shape your future. Don’t allow your circumstances to determine your future. Your attitude matters,” said Cllr Grootboom.
Drawing on his own journey from humble beginnings, he reminded attendees that circumstances should never be a barrier.
“Be positive, ask questions, and grab this opportunity with both hands,” he added.
One of the learners in attendance, 24-year-old Mivuyo Xanywa from Zolani, described the expo as both educational and empowering.
“The Youth Expo is very educational and fruitful. It’s giving us real opportunities to pursue our careers. In my community, there is a farming group, and I am grateful to learn about institutions like Casidra that empower farmers. Platforms like this have opened doors for me. We have an outreach programme, and I will be sharing this information with others,” said Xanywa.
Casidra remains committed to equipping young people with the knowledge and tools to become tomorrow’s leaders.
“We are committed to helping young people turn ambition into action and potential into progress through agricultural and economic development,” said Casidra Project Implementer, Mongami Maqaqa, who recently obtained his Master of Science in Agriculture from the University of Fort Hare.
