BV Jeena Farming
A Harvest of Hope and Triumph
In the heart of the cold Bokkeveld region of Ceres, a farming success story is quietly blossoming. BV Jeena Farming, founded in 2021 by the determined Bradely Jeena, has grown into a beacon of resilience, innovation, and community upliftment. What began as a humble venture has now become a thriving operation—thanks to sheer hard work, strong local partnerships, and strategic financial support.
Fueled by funding from the Western Cape Department of Agriculture’s Comprehensive Agricultural Support Programme (CASP), Bradely’s farm recently celebrated a major milestone: a bountiful harvest spanning over 40 hectares of onions. This achievement marks not just a bumper crop, but a powerful testament to what focused investment and dedicated stewardship can accomplish.
The recently completed project was spearheaded by Reesher Kearns, Project Manager at Casidra. Known for her hands-on leadership and unwavering commitment, Reesher played a pivotal role in ensuring Bradely received the highest quality service and support throughout the project. Her dedication went beyond the call of duty, making a meaningful impact on the farm’s trajectory.
One of the most inspiring outcomes of this season’s success has been the creation of job opportunities for the local community—particularly for women. The onion harvest required a substantial labour force, and BV Jeena Farming made a concerted effort to prioritise the employment of female workers. This not only stimulated economic growth in the area but also empowered women and fostered a sense of dignity and purpose through sustainable employment.

The Western Cape Department of Agriculture has been instrumental in backing the farm through CASP funding. As a second-time recipient, Bradely expressed deep gratitude for the seamless process and the rare opportunity to receive continued support.
Key to the project’s growth was the acquisition of vital farming equipment, facilitated by Casidra, an implementing company known for good governance in the Western Cape. The delivery of a new tractor and storage bins—totalling an investment of R3 million—has significantly boosted the farm’s productivity and operational efficiency.
Reflecting on his journey, Bradely shared, “This process has been life-changing, and it led to my most successful harvest yet. I’m truly grateful for everyone’s support.”
But BV Jeena Farming is more than just onions. It’s a symbol of possibility—of what can happen when determination meets opportunity. As the farm continues to flourish, Bradely’s story is inspiring a new generation of farmers across the region to believe, to strive, and to grow.
