Casidra Makes Its Mark at the African Agri Investment Indaba 2025 (AAII2025)

Amid a pivotal moment in African agricultural development, Casidra, the Western Cape’s leading Provincial Government Business Enterprise with an impressive record of 36 consecutive unqualified financial audits, made a strong impact at the African Agri Investment Indaba (AAII2025) held from 24–26 November 2025 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

With a mission aligned to Africa’s drive for self-sufficiency, Casidra showcased innovative solutions for building a resilient and sustainable agricultural ecosystem, while reinforcing its reputation for good governance.

The Indaba, themed “Agricultural Investment: A Path to Sustainable Development,” brought together visionary investors, policymakers, and agricultural experts united by the urgency to rethink Africa’s food production systems. High-level keynote addresses by H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, former Nigerian Head of State and AU Special Envoy, and Honourable Thoko Didiza, Speaker of the South African National Assembly, set the tone for aligning policy, investment, and partnerships to transform the agri-food sector.

In a world increasingly marked by uncertainty and global disruptions, AAII2025 carried a renewed sense of urgency. As the G20 Agriculture Working Group continues to emphasise food security, sustainable agriculture, and regional trade, Africa is undergoing a transformative shift toward self-sufficiency. From bustling markets to vast farmlands, the continent is building resilient agricultural systems, reducing import reliance, and positioning itself as a global leader in sustainable food production. This is not a distant dream, it is happening now, and the Indaba signalled Africa’s commitment to this new agricultural order.

For Casidra, AAII2025 was the perfect platform to underscore its role in advancing Africa’s agricultural goals by leveraging local and international expertise to shape the future of food security.

As Africa races to reduce its dependence on imported food, the need for regional trade, climate-resilient agriculture, and self-sufficient systems has never been more pressing. The G20’s Agriculture Working Group has highlighted these priorities, reinforcing that a sustainable and self-sufficient Africa is not just a regional imperative, it is a global necessity.

At the Indaba, Casidra CEO Dr. Keith du Plessis presented a compelling vision for how Africa can harness its natural resources, untapped potential, and innovative agricultural practices to make food security an everyday reality for millions. By empowering smallholder farmers, investing in agro-processing, and promoting sustainable farming practices, Casidra is laying the foundation for an agricultural revolution that is both environmentally resilient and economically self-sustaining.

AAII2025 also highlighted Casidra’s projects focused on enhancing productivity, ensuring climate resilience, and empowering local farmers to take charge of their food systems. Dr. du Plessis emphasised; “Innovative financing is not just about unlocking capital; it’s about creating mechanisms that de-risk climate-smart agriculture and make it viable for farmers at every scale. If we align financial flows with resilience and sustainability, we can transform African agriculture into a driver of inclusive growth and food security.”

Visitors to Casidra’s booth explored key initiatives aimed at transforming agriculture through technology, capacity-building, and green innovations. With a strong focus on youth in agriculture, agro-processing, and sustainable practices, Casidra is driving progress toward self-sufficiency and long-term food security for the Western Cape and Africa.

Key Highlights from AAII2025

Casidra’s participation bridged investment and sustainability through:

  • Investor Engagement: Deepened conversations with potential investors committed to funding sustainable agricultural projects aligned with Africa’s food security goals.
  • Sustainability in Focus: Discussions on climate-smart agriculture, soil health, water management, and climate-resilient farming systems to withstand unpredictable weather patterns.
  • Regional Trade: Emphasis on improving intra-African trade in agricultural goods to foster regional food security and reduce dependence on imports.

Casidra looks forward to turning these commitments into fruitful collaborations and partnerships that will shape the future of African agriculture.
