Tri-Toad celebrating Milestones in Agriculture and Entrepreneurship since 2022

What began as a modest plant nursery in 2022 has blossomed into a journey defined by resilience, innovation, and purpose. Along the way, we’ve celebrated numerous milestones that have shaped our path forward and fuelled our growth.

Our journey started with the Western Cape Department of Agriculture (WCDoA)’s CASP Grant Funding, which provided the critical support needed to transform our vision into reality. This early investment laid the foundation for what was to come. The WCDoA is integral to this effort, providing funding, guidance, and essential training on establishing and maintaining our nursery. Our Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism, Dr Ivan Meyer always reaffirms his Department’s commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind and that food is a symbol of hope, wealth, dignity, well-being, and strength.  #FortheLoveofAgriculture

Special Mentions: The project was implemented by Casidra, a key partner, who has supported us with procurement and various initiatives along the way.  A heartfelt thank you to Dr Keith Du Plessis, CEO of Casidra, and his dedicated team for generously taking the time to visit our nursery. Their support and willingness to extend the range of Casidra’s services to us have been invaluable as we continue to grow.

Additionally, a special mention to Jasper Terblanche, our landlord, whose ongoing support has been instrumental in providing the space and resources that have allowed us to thrive.

Following this, we secured further support through the Standard Bank Crowdfunding Initiative, which enabled us to expand and develop our business. Shortly after, I had the privilege of sharing my story on Jacaranda FM, where I inspired listeners to dream boldly and believe in the power of small beginnings. This momentum was further acknowledged when I received the Women Entrepreneur Award in a special category, an extraordinary honour that celebrates the contributions of women to the business world.

In the same year, I was honoured with the Agriculture Writers Award for New Entrant to Commercial Farming in the Western Cape—a pivotal milestone that validated the hard work and dedication invested in this journey. Our work at the nursery also captured the attention of SABC 2’s Living Land programme, where I shared my vision for sustainable agriculture and community upliftment. A special thanks to Experience Matshediso of Casidra’s Marketing and Communications team, who played a pivotal role in driving this initiative, offering vital exposure to our work and vision.

Publications like Kuier Magazine also celebrated our mission, featuring a two-page spread that highlighted the passion behind our work. On-air interviews with Radio Sonder Grense allowed me to delve into agricultural insights, while podcasts such as OmniWellness and Food for Mzansi provided platforms to discuss important topics like food security, wellness, and the pivotal role of women in farming.

None of these milestones would have been possible without the unwavering support of our clients—Stodels, Cape Gardens, Buco, and the many smaller customers who have been essential to our growth. Their collaboration and trust in our nursery have been integral to our success, and I am deeply grateful for each one of them.

These milestones are not just achievements—they are a testament to the power of collaboration, vision, and the steadfast belief that growth is possible when we work together.  As I look toward the future, I am excited to continue this journey of growth and impact. I invite everyone to join me in supporting food security gardens through sponsorships. Together, we can empower communities, nurture hope, and plant the seeds for a brighter, more sustainable future.
